April Ross
April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be Ross' last chance to win an Olympic gold. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. If we play our highest or perform well, I think we can get that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. In addition, I'll try the chance to have chance. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. Ross went on to play in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran the track as well as her volleyball skills in the indoors as a prep athlete. But she clearly was superior to the rest when it came to the second sport. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitting volleyball player throughout her time in high school. Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. She also won the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play in the year 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. In fact, she's had the chance to win numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. For six years from 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were an impressive force on the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they received a gold medal. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team which won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took each other to take home the gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her college career with the USC Trojans in graduation from high school. This was years before Ross went to the beach, and then became a professional. Her career was a success during her time in the NCAA tournament. In 2000, as a freshman she earned Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans to make it to their first Final Four. In her sophomore season, she experienced a terrible personal loss, yet managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. In her last two seasons in the Trojans in the program they won victory by winning consecutive national championships. For her part Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the most outstanding female college volleyball players in the United States. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. Margie remains a source of inspiration, both off and on at the beach.
